Why it’s on the list
The first afternoon, after about three hours' drive from Auckland. The walk starts at the Government Gardens end of the lakefront and loops through the village. Ōhinemutu is a living village, so it's footpaths only. After that come Kuirau Park and the Redwoods, then the Blue Lake loop across the road from camp.
